MISSION
GHS-IMR Library operates with the mission to promote knowledge generation and application through its effective dissemination.
The library, therefore, acts as the main learning resource centre of the institute and provides services and facilities to meet the requirements of the institute’s teaching, training, research and consultancy programmes.
LOCATION
The library is housed in a separate campus (known as Campus II) with more than 130 seating capacity. It serves users on all days of the year except gazetted holidays. The peaceful environment at Campus II is absolutely conducive to reading and learning.
SALIENT FEATURES
Resources
GHS-IMR Library has a comprehensive collection of literature, predominantly related to management and its allied subjects, to meet the information needs of its users. A need-based collection of knowledge resources has been developed in lines with the objectives and activities of the Institute. Resources include books, journals, audio-visual materials, CD-ROMs, periodicals and business magazines, business newspapers, etc. Electronic resources include live online databases and e-journals.
Books: The Library has a highly selective collection of around 11200 volumes of books covering 8300+ titles in the area of management and related subjects.
Journals: The Library currently subscribes to 81 print journals (55 International and 26 Indian journals). It also receives 14 journals on exchange basis. The library has a collection of 1425 bound volumes of journals.
Live Online databases: The library is equipped with live online databases like CapitaLine & Indiastat.com.
Capitaline is a corporate database of listed and unlisted Indian companies. It provides Information on more than 10000 companies with their financial and non-financial information with company query, industry, finance, score board and projections models. Capitaline incorporates state of the art facilities like graphics, currency conversion forecasters, multimedia and web-link.
Indiastat.com is one of the most comprehensive sources of secondary level, socio-economic, India-centric, statistical online database. The data sources include reports, statistical publications, policies, and other releases by various ministries/departments of the Government of India, and its States, and Parliament questions and answers. It covers socio-economic data under more than 30 classifications, which are further divided into hundreds of sub-categories.
E-journals: The library offers a voluminous online management database of e-journals, etc. through EBSCO (Business source Elite+) and J-Gate Social and Management Science module (JSMS).
Ebsco (Business source Elite+) provides full text coverage of over 2000 scholarly business, management and economics journals. This rich collection also includes publications covering topics such as accounting, banking, finance, international business, marketing, sales, etc. It offers full text for over 1,000 business publications, more than 19000 company profiles from Datamonitor and Life Science Analytics, 145 full text reference books and monographs, over 1200 newspapers and full text television and radio transcripts, nearly 6000 case studies, complimentary access to over 3600 e-books, over 5 million full text business dissertations and theses, etc.
J-Gate Social & Management Sciences (JSMS) is a subset of J-Gate and offers library users another 6700 indexed and 2000+ free full text of scholarly journals.
Non-book materials: The Library possesses a collection of video/audiocassettes and Compact Diskettes on management and related subjects.
Final Research & Summer Internship Reports: The library also holds a collection of over 1000 Final Research projects and nearly 800 Summer internship projects.
Network Resources
Besides the aforementioned resources, the library also has membership access to DELNET, a network of 2100+ Indian and Foreign Member Libraries, and National Information Centre on Management (NICMAN) under IIM-Ahmedabad.
Automated environment
GHS-IMR library is equipped with LIBSYS (version 7), which is an integrated multi-user library management software, that caters to the needs of an advanced and automated library set up.
Moreover, LIBSYS has a powerful and user-friendly Web based Online Public Access Catalogue (Web OPAC), which is an interactive search module of an automated library management system. The Web OPAC system includes a word-based search facility that can narrow down a search to meet very specific needs. Users can access the Web OPAC to find out the real-time availability of library materials from their own computer terminals. The library uses Bar Code technology for circulation purposes.
Other Services
Some of the major services rendered by the library include referencing, reprographic, and reminder services, data search facilities and resource sharing through DELNET, and 'Management Research Update' for reference purposes. The library also brings out 'Management Research Update' on weekly/fortnightly basis for reference purposes.
USAGE BY EXTERNAL USERS
GHS-IMR encourages the use of its library for professional and academic purposes. Individuals and organizations can avail the services of the library after payment of prescribed fee and security deposit.
WORKING HOURS
The Library is open on all days of the week except gazetted holidays. Timings are as follows:
On week days: 10.00 AM to 8.00 PM (summer); 10.00 AM to 7.30 PM (winter)
On Saturdays: 10.00 A.M. to 6.00 P.M. (summer and winter)
On Sundays: 10.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M. (summer and winter)
